Wayyyyyyyy too quiet, you are almost better off clicking your brake lever. The bell also dings as you hit bumps, which is very annoying. Sad because it is a good idea and a high quality bell.

(More customer reviews)This is a great bell for commuters. It's big, loud and has a nice ring-ring sound to it much like my old bicycle bell I had 30 years ago as a child. In fact it looks like exactly the same design. The only problem is that the little emblem that covers the rivet on the bell itself isn't securely attached and fell off while I was installing the bell.

Mirrycle Incredibell Brass Duet Bicycle Bell Review

(More customer reviews)We bought this bell in the black with chrome plate to put on my daughter's 16" Diamondback Mini Della Cruz that she will be receiving for her birthday in January. We bought this bell after a bit of research, and after reading so many positive reviews here on Amazon.
We weren't disappointed. It's the perfect size - maybe a couple inches diameter - and the sound is pretty and fairly loud (not ear-splitting mind you). It's a simple little two-ding mechanism (hence the term 'duet', I assume) - one ding on the forward stroke, one as the lever goes back into place, unlike the bell we have on her trike which makes a series of dings as you flick it and as it goes back into place. I would have thought that two dings could not have sounded as good, but it does; in fact it probably sounds better than bell on her trike which cost more than twice as much as the Incredibell. There must be something to that whole brass bell sound.
This bell doesn't feel cheap. It seems to be well-constructed, and I feel confident that it will last a long time.
It installs right alongside the grips on the handlebar, and so it's easy to access while riding, without taking attention away from steering - a perfect 'first bike' accessory in this sense.
I think it's worth noting that this bell is not made in China. It is made in Japan.
I'm very pleased with this bell, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a compact bell with a nice tone.

I Love My Bike Bicycle Bell in Chrome, Red, Blue, Pink, or White Review

(More customer reviews)Great product. I ordered 2 of them a Chrome and a White one. I wasn't expecting much for 3 bucks but they came in great condition and works as describe.
My girlfriend and I ride along a paved trail at times with alot of people. The ring...ring..sound is plesant to the ears is loud enough to get the attention of people. No more yelling "On you left".
All you need is a phillips screw driver and it took only but a couple of minutes to install on the handle bar. I installed mine on the right side and angled it away from me for easier access for my fingers.
I have only had used the product for 3 months but the only negative is that on rougher trails and on bumps the bell will give off a little ring. So I wouldn't put this thing on a real mountain bike. But what hardcore mountain biker would in the first place. LOL.
So don't hesitate buy it if you need one. It will save you from yelling for people to move and it looks cool. I will be ordering more for gifts for all my biking friends.

1) It only realistically goes on the left handlebar. Putting it on the right doesn't seem to allow for easy bell ringing.
2) If I leave my bike out in the rain and the bell gets wet, it doesn't want to work unless I "ring" it out about 10 times.

The "old-fashioned bell of our youth" gives a timely and pleasant 'warning' that a bicyclist is nearing, giving them ample time to step aside - and it puts a smile on their faces as They remember "The Bell". A young man declared it "awesome". The word 'big' is misleading, as the bell is the size of those of Years ago. I tested other bell-types, but those were cumbersome to use, and didn't give an adequate warning sound. The price was reasonable and they arrived quickly.

Bee Cycle Resolving Bicycle Bell (Chrome) Review

(More customer reviews)This bell clamps sturdily to a standard handle bar and looks good. It is large enough to be heard 30-40 feet away so you can alert people that you are approaching even at high speed. The outer bell rotates while the hammer is on the inside, so you can flick the bell with your finger to get a polite "ding" or two, or you can bear down on the racheting lever to unleash a burst of rings or even a continuous stream of sound, as the rotational momentum of the bell itself will carry it past the cocking pause of the lever. It is a good design, based on the classical bike bells of yesteryear but the externally rotating shell (bell) is an improvement. Having said that, there is a slight caveat. The finish is a little rough and everything is made from stampings so this is not a "work of art" and doesn't run like a swiss watch although it does get better with use. But hey, what do you want for $11? It is loud enough to do what a bell should do, has versatility of action, gets smiles from everyone, and you won't mind leaving it out in the rain. This is a good working bell, not a showpiece, and for my money, the best bike accessory out there.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this from Amazon because the local bike store was charging $25.00 for it. The bell is handsome and looks good on my Electra Townie. It is big, so take that into consideration if you already have a basket, cup holder and other things attached to your handlebars.
The bell does sound like a two toned door bell. It is loud, especially if you are trying it out inside the house. Clamp it on the bike and it is not so loud outside.
The bell is such a friendly sound, people usually smile when they hear it. Older folks (my age) hear it and say "Ding Dong, Avon Calling!" In the safety department, you could not do better than this bell. It is loud enough to be heard and different enough to make people check it out.
If you are buying this as an add on to your Electra bicycle, there are other bells with the Electra name more apparent. Still, a handsome addition to any bike.
