(More customer reviews)So like it looks great, its nice and hefty, but after sitting in my apartment for about 2-3 months I tried to unlock it to put on my bike. What happened... well what happened is the key got stuck in the lock; the key would rotate inside the lock, but would not come out. After trying to mess with it for about 2 minutes it came out, but only part of the key came out. That key has to be made out of plastic (or something) because it broke with out any heart ache. I cant believe what a crappy lock and key comes with this kit. STAY AWAY, unless you approve of poor craftsmanship, this lock is bunk. I wont be buying from this brand ever again.

(More customer reviews)I bought this lock. Installed it on my bike the same day I received it. That night a friend stopped by looked at it and said, "you cant use that lock" why? "because I you can open it easy" yeah right. I swear to you as god as my witness he had that lock open in under 3 minutes. I almost died. 3 minutes. He's statement, "I just stole your bike". Unbelievable. Any kid that's messed with an old cheap 4 dial lock knows it can be opened by pulling apart the two ends while separating and moving the dials. I hadn't thought about that in 20 years but apparently the same still holds true. I've since opened it the same way to remember the old days and think wow, some things never change. Thankfully, my bike is to nice to leave untended anyways, people just don't respect other peoples things anymore. But it would have been nice to know even to run in for a quick cup of coffee the bike would have been safe, but not with this lock. Thank god for good friends. And if your bike is worth more than $300, do yourself a favor. don't leave it because it will be gone in "under 3 minutes" if you must. buy a lock with a key.

While I was unlocking my bike a guy came up and tried to mug me at night at 8 PM. This guy came up to me with a knife and said give me your stuff. Before I turned I said " Oh yeah?", I then proceeded to grab the chain and lock and started swinging violently and said " What now mother f****r!", the mugger got scared , dropped his knife and ran away.
Pros: Strong
Cons: Bulky , Heavy (15.5 pounds)

(More customer reviews)Being in Cincinnati I am usually told that a cable lock is acceptable to lock up your bike since the city isn't known for many bike thefts unlike Chicago or New York but I felt it was better to be safe than sorry. This is a great lock and when used properly, I feel safe leaving it most anywhere I go. I have had no problems with the key since it operates smoothly.
For some reason, it is almost impossible to find out the lock weight and total dimension online. Most measurements only give you the inner lock measurements. The lock weights 4 lbs 5 ounces and is 6 5/8" x 12 7/8".

(More customer reviews)I am pleased with this lock. Its length makes it easy to secure the bike to things, though it also makes the lock large to store on the bike. Yet the velcro strip that comes with it makes it easy to secure so it isn't in the way. And the bracket is great, with an easy push-button release. A good, medium-high security lock.

The length is just right for locking to a post/fence/etc. Although the cable is quite stiff and takes a bit of wrestling to thread it thru the fence slats. Still, I'm glad I didn't get a 5 or 6 footer that would have been thinner gauge. Along with the bike frame bracket, this lock travels very well. The key action is smooth and works well.
